20% harder to use? - stronger leg workouts with the Torpo kickboard

Feedback from Torpo users worldwide shows the Torpo T500 kickboard makes kick workouts up to 20% harder. Swim instructors, competitive swimmers (including some of the British swim team) and swimmers of various levels have all reported that 'Torpo' is harder to use. By definition, it can be argued, prolonged use with Torpo will create a stronger freestyle kick. Now this isn't a quantitative study but a qualatitive study based on survey results. We are embarking on a wider survey of customers to get feedback on how Torpo is used and its pros and cons. Please get in touch if you would like to take part... info@torpo.co.uk

Improvements to core muscle groups in use during the leg kick and whole stroke have also been reported, with the Torpo's lack of lateral stability requiring the body and core to compensate and hence improve strength. Do you remember previous blogs showing Torpo design based on aerodynamics and fighter jet technology? (more of this is shown in our website)

Modern commercial and military jets use flight controls such as canards, spoilers and tailerons which link to flight control computers to finely adjust movement in all directions (axes). The traditional 'flat' kickboard stops this movement and creates stability which stops core muscles having to work as much. With Torpo, the body acts as the control surfaces and computer, having to compenstae for the lack of stability, strengthening muscles in the process and teaching the brain improved rotational control. The flat kickboard also engenders a 'flat' kick which differs from the actual kick during the freestyle stroke. The motto "train how you will swim" applies.

So, what do you think? Are you a Torpo user? If not, are you satisfied with the performance of your Kickboard, or would you like to take your kick strength to the next level?
